| | Canoeing at Loch an Eilein, Aviemore (Rothiemurchus Estate) |
Canoeing is awesome fun and really easy to get the hang of. We want you to have a fantastic time so at Rothiemurchus we tailor-make our sessions to suit your level of experience and water-fuelled desires.
If you haven’t done it before don’t worry, our friendly experienced staff will show you how to handle your canoe, giving you the confidence to enjoy this exciting sport. The canoes are light (around 30kg), stable and carry two adults, or two adults plus two small children.
Our flat water canoeing takes place on Loch an Eilein, a truly magical place right at the heart of the ancient Rothiemurchus Pine forest. The Loch is very sheltered and is the perfect place to relax, explore some wonderful highland scenery and to chat with your guide and new found friends. Look out for wildlife, paddle round the ruined castle and hear tales of Jacobite plots and the notorious Wolf of Badenoch. Loch an Eilein canoe sessions will consist of a safety brief, teaching of basic paddling skills, a couple of fun games for all ages and then a gentle explore of the Loch and its amazing history. | How much?

| | Gorge Walking at Achlean Gorge, Aviemore (Rothiemurchus Estate) |
Fancy trying something completely different?
How about deliberately jumping into a Highland stream and following it up hill as it cascades down rocky slabs, over small waterfalls and through pools?
This is a fantastic introduction to the joys of gorge walking and is suitable for all the family. If at any point you decide you’ve had enough, you can simply walk up the side of the burn and watch the excitement from the sidelines. Wicked fun! | How much? £35 per person

| | Gorge Swimming at Bridge of Brown, nr. Aviemore (Rothiemurchus Estate) |
Equipped with wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets this is a more ‘adventurous’ version of Gorge Walking. Fight your way upstream against the flow, clambering up small waterfalls, swimming through calmer sections and jumping into deep pools. When you reach the top just turn round and float or slide back down to the start.
This is a really thrilling sport and you’ll have an amazing time. There is full instructor supervision at all times and believe me they will be having a great time too. | How much? £60 per person
